Mission Statement
Sydney Academy strives to produce a dynamic school environment that will enable each student to develop an ability to think clearly, to communicate effectively, and to make sound judgments. Sydney Academy's mandate is to empower students with the knowledge, understanding, and skills that will enable them to reach their full potential in tomorrow's world through various programs, activities and experiences. The school endeavors to expose students to the values of the past, the excitement of the present, and the challenge of the future. Sydney Academy aims to provide students with the awareness that tolerance, concern for others and a sense of responsibility can empower them to make the world a better place.

International Baccalaureate Program
The International Baccalaureate is a two-year pre-university curriculum designed to prepare students for the intellectual demands of university studies in almost every country in the world. Sydney Academy has offered the International Baccalaureate since 1986.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) program is a unique educational experience that at once serves four purposes: allows an opportunity for students to earn advanced university standing; increases access to university entrance scholarships; permits the student a wider choice of post-secondary institutions; and, provides a academic challenge to students that is well beyond the traditional public school environment. The IB program is educational excellence in action.

The International Baccalaureate Programme has significant co-curricular and extra-curricular components. Debating and conflict resolution seminars are two important activities. All diploma students must engage in an activity that requires creativity, action and service (the CAS element) for the time equivalent of an afternoon per week. Through the IB program and its extensions, local students have climbed mountains in New England and participated in Public Speaking and Debating Championships in London, Crete, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Boston, New York, Montreal and Toronto.

Sydney Academy provides all students an opportunity to use a variety of technologies, demonstrate an understanding of technological applications and apply appropriate technologies for solving problems. There are more than 125 computers in five(5) fully networked labs.
