Communication Plan – Social Studies 9

Overview of Course:

Social Studies 9 examines Atlantic Canada through the following units of study:

  1. Physical Setting

  2. Culture

  3. Economics

  4. Technology

  5. Interdependence

 

Expectations:

 

Student participation and involvement in classroom discussions and activities are necessary to maximize the learning process. Attendance is a key factor in determining the level of success a student will achieve in Social Studies 9. Students are responsible for all missed work. Students will have one week to hand in assignments.  Missed tests will be written on the first day your return following the test (providing that the absence has been excused).  After one week, the assignment/test will receive a mark of zero.  I reserve the right to make changes to missed tests.

  1. Writing & the Mechanics of Writing

  2. Novel & Independent Novel Study

  3. Short Stories

  4. Drama (Shakespearean)

  5. Poetry

Expectations:

Student participation and involvement in classroom discussions and activities are necessary to maximize the learning process. Attendance is a key factor in determining the level of success a student will achieve in English 11. Students are responsible for all missed work. Students will have one week to hand in assignments that are not considered to be in-class assignments/projects.  After one week, the assignment will receive a mark of zero.  If an adequate excuse has been provided (doctor’s note, etc.), missed tests will be written on the day the student returns.  I reserve the right to modify missed tests.
