Parking At Sydney Academy

Students are advised that they are not permitted to park in the school parking lots.

PEANUT ALLERGIES

Please be aware that we have students in this school with severe allergies to Peanut Products.  Please refrain from bringing in any products with peanut butter and/or peanut oil into the school.  This is a safety issue.

Mount Allison University Information Session

Mount Allison will be at Sydney Academy Feb. 26th at 11:00 or 1:00 for an information session. If you have questions please make sure you talk to them. If you plan to attend please sign up in the guidance office.

Grade 12 Students

Grade 12 students are reminded to check the announcements for upcoming university visits.  There are several visits that will be happening over the next couple of weeks and months and there are also University open House opportunities.  You can find all the information on the announcements page of our website as well as scholarship page.

CBU Presentation

CBU is planning on coming in on February 21st at lunch to discuss scholarships.  They are bringing a few faculty to answer questions and pass along some important information.  Please sign up in guidance if you are interested in attending.

Upcoming events

Experience Acadia Day

On Friday March 9, students and their families are invited to come to Acadia’s campus for Experience Acadia Day—the on-campus transition event. This is an opportunity for students to receive academic advising and register for courses. Campus tours will also be provided.Students can register online here.

 

Individual Meetings with Students

I will be in your area in the coming weeks and am available to meet with students on an individual basis with their parents and/or guardians. At these meetings, I can answer any questions a student or their family may have about Acadia. If a student wishes to set up an individual meeting with me, they can reach me via any of the contact details below.

Money Matters
All students who wish to be considered for a scholarship must apply for admission and provide all required admission documentation by March 1, 2018. Students who have been offered admission are encouraged to check their Acadia Central account—Acadia’s online web portal for any other required documents. Scholarship offers are made to successful candidates in late March. We’ll be happy to assist any students along the way!

YOUTH AMBASSADORS PROGRAM WITH CANADA THREE - WEEK EXCHANGE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

YOUTH AMBASSADORS PROGRAM WITH CANADA

THREE - WEEK EXCHANGE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

The program is seeking applicants with Canadian citizenship.  Youth applicants must be aged 15 to 18 years old, have at least 4 months remaining of secondary school, and be dedicated to community service.  Preference will be given to applicants from under-represented populations, new Canadians, and Canadians from indigenous populations including First Nations, Inuit, and Métis.  Candidates with a demonstrated interest in the USA and with little to no experience traveling to the USA are also preferred. 

Most of the costs of this program are covered for those that qualify.

2018 Youth Legion Leadership Training Camp

The leadership camp is to offer students a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills. The staff uses elements of art, drama, athletic skills, music and dance to allow campers to learn to develop public speaking skills, also, to motivate a group to pursue a course of action for the benefit of the group or community at large.

Parents/guardians of any students currently taking Pre-IB 10 course and plan on enrolling in the IB diploma for the 2018-19 academic year, are invited to attend an information session in room 101 at Sydney Academy on Wednesday, February 21 at 6:30pm.
