All Hail Sydney Academy

(Verse)
All hail, Sydney Academy
The pride and joy of C.B.
All hail, Sydney Academy
For education and fraternity.
All hail, Sydney Academy
The cherished and beloved,
Its history always seems to be
An inspiration to us all,
And its destiny will go on to see
Our answer to its call.

(Chorus)
Beloved Alma Mater
Whose past we hold so dear;
We'll cherish it in years to come
Its memory sharp and clear.
(repeat 1st verse)

Ode to the Academy

On Park Street did Minvera's Knights
A temple to her fame decree
Where half a thousand souls so wild
Made Satan's angel's works seem mild...,
    They reared Academy.
So thirteen rooms, ne'er looking sound
With walls of brick were girded round.
There was the Lab, which sends forth odors queer
And here, the scene of dances gay and free
A place that every student's heart holds dear
This blessed school, our own Academy

-Hugh McLellan (1936-1937)

Lament of a Cheerleader's Mother

We all feel pride, you must agree
To have a cheerleader in the family.
But life with a cheerleader can be hard,
To survive you must be on your guard.
All those car washes -- lots of fun,
Gets the girls in the sun,
Never mind the rags and the soap
The Lord will help the Mothers cope!
Weekly draws on this and that --
"You MIGHT" win the sweets and cash.
Another bake sale, that's just great,
Just get busy with pies and cake.
"Is my uniform clean?" You hear the call
A cry that drives Mothers up the wall.
"Did you see my pompoms?" is another blast
Now where was it that I saw them last?
"May I have the car tonight?"
You hear her call while half in flight.
Hurry here, hurry there,
Causes Mum's nerves much wear and tear.
And quiet reigns in the house once more,
You have a minute to reflect,
And truly we Mothers do suspect,
It's all good training for their future
We hope 'twill be a great adventure.

Born To Be Wild

We eat our subway, as competition nears
Say hello to our smiles and goodbye to our fears
We get to run through it just one more time
To stiffen our motions, and straighten that line
Not looking good, as Bonnie Replies
"Bad floor time, good comp" with hope in her eyes
We go back to our rooms and tighten our curls
Wish the rest good luck as we talk to the girls
We tuck in our laces and cut our long nails
Last check for our hair, make sure no rat-tails
We dance on the tables, kiss teddy goodbye
Our fans are all roaring, all spirits are high
Excited and scared, we're called to go on
Our minds all go blank at the start of the song
We give it our all, and give them a show
Chanting with confidence and spirit "YOU KNOW"
We throw up some baskets, just once or twice
All stunts are solid, routines lookin' nice
We are all so tired, we want to go rest
But first we must find out who is the best.
As our name is called, we run to the stands
To hug our parents and all our great fans
The trophy is ours, but we had lots of help
Our coaches of course, they helped us no doubt.
We look up at them, with nothing but smiles
We truly now know, we were...
